School District Vaccine Tracking
Project Overview
Design a tool for school districts to ensure that everyone has access to vaccinations.
Project Duration:
June 1st - June 25th, 2022
My Role:
UX Designer, Researcher
Tools Used:
Google Meet, Google Sheets, Adobe XD, Coolors.co, Maze (Testing)
Responsibilities:
User Research, Wireframing, High Fidelity Design, Reporting
User Research: Pain Points
Hidden Information: Users wanted to see information on the go while also being able to access the information on desktop.
Physical Documents: User’s identified trouble keeping track of documents or needing documents on-hand.
Usability Study: Findings
Of the five users we tested our low fidelity mockups with, the feedback was largely the same around what folks felt like could be more clear.
Findings (Unmoderated Testing)
Faster Route to Uploading Documents (students)
More access to emergency contacts (instructors)
Accessibility Considerations
All colors and typography was tested to insure it meets accessibility standards
All images and non-screen reader accessible pieces of design are accompanied by alt-text to allow for simple navigation
Product is designed for offline uploading of documents to accommodate users with limited data plans or connectivity issues
Takeaways
Impact: “I’m always skeptical of uploading my medical data to a system but these feels very efficient and official. I would trust my school using this.”
What I learned: This project had a ton of great learnings around what how large a project can get very quickly. My initial ideas around what was needed for this project eventually had to be phased down to a first and second iteration in order to get the ‘client’ what they needed in a timely fashion.
Next Steps
Continue to optimize the site to accommodate more diverse users
Built out the ‘Administrator’ view of the product to allow for top-down viewing of all user types.
Further modify the note-writing and add a potential plug-in for pediatricians to help with the user responsibilities.
