Artist Album Listening & Purchasing Site (Responsive)
Project Overview
A musician is looking for a web experience for customers to listen to their new project and purchase it.
Project Duration:
May 1st - May 18th, 2022
My Role:
UX Designer, Researcher
Tools Used:
Google Meet, Google Sheets, Adobe XD, Coolors.co, Maze (Testing)
Responsibilities:
User Research, Wireframing, High Fidelity Design, Reporting
User Research: Pain Points
Hidden Information: Users wanted to see more information from the artist including past projects and upcoming tour information
Funnel Confusion: It wasn’t totally clear why the user would choose to purchase the album instead of just streaming it from the site
Usability Study: Findings
Of the five users we tested our low fidelity mockups with, the feedback was largely the same around what folks fight like could be added to make this purchase feel more unique.
Round 1 Findings (Unmoderated Testing)
More clarity throughout check-out experience
More Information desired on the initial pages
More artist personality wanted
Accessibility Considerations
All images and non-screen reader accessible pieces of design are accompanied by alt-text to allow for simple navigation
All colors were tested via Coolors.co and were found to meet accessibility standards
Global navigation is referenced in the footer of each page to allow for quick reference.
Takeaways
Impact: “I was expecting this to just be so plain but I was really impressed with how much character and personality really comes through! Great work!”
What I learned: There is a delicate balance between wanting a product experience to feel new and inventive and the utility of the function users are trying to complete. Utility always has to come first for a product of this nature.
Next Steps
Continue to optimize the site to accommodate more diverse users
Complete a ‘light mode’ build of the web experience
Continue building out the check-out experience for additional items being added to the cart through the check-out experience.
