Bullpen Talent Experience Case Study
Overview
The client, Bullpen, had recently undergone a brand refresh with help of agency Big Fog when I was brought onto the project. The project owner was hoping to integrate these new brand styles into the current web product—a project-based gig work tool looking to match talent with companies in need within the commercial real estate space.
Challenges
There was no existing design file for the product as it stood today.
Design patterns were inconsistent throughout the product experience.
Limited industry knowledge/experience
Project Overview
I began by creating a competitive analysis of other key products and companies in the job-board space.
Then I started documenting the core existing product screens and collecting them into a centralized Figma file. The client was hoping to build out the ‘Talent’ side of the product first, before turning our attention to Company and Admin viewports.
Once all of the core elements were logged into Figma, I began by updating a central style guide page with the core brand elements as outlined by the agency (typefaces, colors, logos, etc.)
After the initial style guide was built, I created each page within the product as well as error and editable states which allowed me to identify any discrepancies in User Experience patterns.
After recreating each section and refining the existing designs to match consistencies and established patterns, I worked with the engineering team to implement the designs into the staging environment to be QA’ed by our project lead.
Conclusion
This project is on-going but through our hands-on collaboration, the client now has an existing structure and design system to create from prior to engaging engineering teams. Together, we have created a function design system that represents the clients’ vision and will allow the organization to continue growing.
